Also for anyone getting annoyed by this bug, a workaround is to install pcmanfm, which is based on Thunar. Then just set your default file manager to pcmanfm in the Settings Manager -> Preferred Applications.
The two file managers are very alike so nothing feels out of place when using pcmanfm.
