Note I have not watched Martin's video - missing the codecs, but this bug sounds like what I was going to report as an ugly/messy screen (see my screenshot).
Points to consider:
(1) You also don't really need the word "Checking" for every line.
(2) While the list of files will vary from release to release, you should know in advance roughly how long the longest line should be, and plan accordingly.
(3) If you don't want to change the screen layout, then I would left trim the paths for display on a single line, and add a "..." to show this has been truncated.
(4) Assuming that what I saw (see screenshot) is the expected layout (*), why not simply use more of the screen width?
(*) = I know the vertical sync is somehow wrong on my machine, so I can't see the last couple of lines off the bottom without tweaking the monitor. I should report that as a separate issue.
