Please start Amarok in a konsole with these arguments:
amarok -d --nofork
and check the error messages.
I suspect it is a well-known bug in the 2.8 version with the analyzer applet (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=327150), if yes, here is the workaround:
disable the analyzer applet by editing ~/.kde/share/config/amarok_homerc and removing it from the plugins list
Also please file Amarok bugs downstream in http://bugs.kde.org, as for all other KDE packages
