Mailing list hosting is provided by Canonical for the Ubuntu project, so Canonical IS has to be the ones who handle these type of requests. If you are having a serious problem with Canonical IS not responding we (the Community Council) can see what we can do.
You can join #canonical-sysadmin with a ticket number to request status, but on the technical side it's worth noting that deleting things from mailman archives is notoriously difficult and most mailing list admins simply won't do it, so requests may take some time.
