I'm not against other people contributing this feature, but I'm probably not going to work on it myself.

For one, I'm not sure that using multiple streams would result in significant speed gains. Download speed is typically limited by the overall connection speed, which is dependent on factors such as the ISP, location of the client and the server, etc.
