I created a new project using my default profile DV/DVD Widescreen PAL (720 x 576 with 16:9 aspect ratio).
Imported video having resolution of 720 x 576 and aspect ratio 16:9, and added it to the timeline.
I then created a new animated title - it doesn't matter which title is selected, they all produce the same error.
The animated title's file properties indicate Video Size of 720 x 576, but it does not have a 16:9 aspect ratio.
Initially I thought the title had an aspect ratio of 4:3, but I have since installed MediaInfo (mediainfo-gui in the ubuntu repositories) which reports that the animated title PNG has an aspect ratio of 5:4.
The result is that the animated title does not fill the video frame horizontally, leaving a wide gap on both left and right of the title's background.

I have uploaded two images:
A screenshot of the OpenShot window showing an animated title overlaying the widescreen PAL video at http:// gardencam. net78.net/ openshot/ openshot. png
A screenshot of the MediaInfo window showing the details for the animated title PNG, including the 5:4 aspect ratio, at gardencam. net78.net/ openshot/ mediainfo. png.
