I am also seeing this (intermittent left click results in right click context) on a Lenovo T520 running Mint Cinnamon 17 64-bit 3.13.0-24-generic.

Ouput of xinput | grep -i touchpad shows:

⎜ ↳ SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad id=11 [slave pointer (2)]

Mouse/trackpad settings do not have left/right inverted.

Symptoms appear intermittent but frequent as:

Left-click mouse results in right-click context menu popping up
Subsequent left-click results in expected left-click
This happens on hyperlinks in browsers as well as menu items, close app "X" etc so I don't believe its an issue with a small clickable area being missed.

I need to test more but believe unlike Mohamed above tapping the trackpad as opposed to using the button also does not work as expected.

The secondary buttons which accompany the trackpoint on Thinkpads seems to work as expected though I've not done extensive testing yet.
