Bug #838557 addresses showing of hostname (currently even if you use the nickserv password that Lernid provides, it takes a moment to cloak and your address is show then). However I don't really see this as a security thing, it's just noisy.
In strict IRC sense, this is what we're talking about:
Currently Lernid takes the nickname you select and a password and simply does: /msg nickserv identify password
The proposal in this bug is to instead do: /msg nickserv identify username password
Where "username" is this new field and can be an already registered nickname account with nickserv (which you may have running on irssi or something, like my "pleia2" user account) rather than the nickname you're selecting to use with Lernid (like "pleia2-lernid"). With this new username field I would be able to identify my pleia2-lernid user with my pleia2 account.
I mentioned grouping in my comment above, so I also could just group pleia2-lernid to my pleia2 account and not require this feature in lernid.
