'core.run_pre_depend(progress_callback, distro_alternate_version)' function will run 'zypper refresh' and wait for its completion.
It seems that in your case 'zyyper refresh' is stuck. Can you check in yast settings the option to download using cdrom or NFS is disabled if you are not using any of these methods to download and install packages.
