Bug Description
Binary package hint: ubiquity
When (in step 4 - keyboard layout) I select "guess keymap" the settings are only used on this page, they are already lost in step 6 (who are you) AND they are not applied to the installed system either.
Selecting "choose your own" works fine throughout installation and in the installed system
I used "german, eliminate dead keys", a screenshot of the dialogue is attached
Steps to reproduce :
(Have a keyboard other than USA)
1. Start Ubuntu 10.04 beta1 LiveCD.
2. Keep english as the default language, and click Install Ubuntu.
3. Don't change the country, click forward.
4. Ubuntu suggest you USA keyboard, click Guess keymap and click Guess..
5. Follow instructions until it detects your keyboard.
6. Click Forward and continue the installation until the end.
Result : The target system is installed with USA keyboard layout.

Just for the record, the same problem (at least for the Ubiquity part) happens in the Lucid Alpha 3 Ubiquity (updated before the install).
I have a French keyboard that was correctly detected, but I had to select it manually to have proper input in the "Who are you" screen.
