Bug Description
When enabling the splinters fix, Alex found that the load was very high

This was not the case for the patch that I generated so I'm not sure how this is necessary.
Speaking with Alex S and Ryan M, we discussed that this isn't normal that the field in ovs-vsctl is usually just trunk and not a range like this, and cant explain why so many interfaces where generated.
