Thus the Tahoma font, now being available from a package of nearly identical licensing as the others, should be added back to the files downloaded by msttcorefonts. Please set this as a "whishlist" type bug if approved.

this is debian bug #380294 (http:// bugs.debian. org/380294). i have made a patch (awaiting review by the package maintainer), which is available there and directly applicable to the ubuntu package.
