Bug Description

Great app... I've been using it since I switched to Linux years ago.

I have a couple of suggestions/requests that I think could improve it.

How hard would it be to convert the pad to use HTML? A lot of what I use xpad for is scraps of webpages I need to get back to (and don't really want to lose the page in my bookmarks). So, I'll throw a UPS package tracking number in xpad. But, what I'd love to have is the actual link to the tracking page. Or, I'm considering buying a new webcam, and I found a great price online. So, I'd love to keep that link handy until I'm ready to buy.

I figured that this would only be an extension of the bold/italics/underline formatting. Plus, I have a little experience coding C/C++, so if you'd be willing to point out what changes you think this would require, I'd be willing to give it a shot.

Thanks.

Rather than supporting html, maybe it would be enough/better to just make any links clickable.

Sounds good to me... simpler, but still gets the effect that I'm looking for.

Actually, after thinking on this, I think what I really want is the ability to write some text ("UPS Package"), then select that text, and make it a link to a completely different webpage ("http://www.ups.com/whatever"). Does that make sense? I think what your original comment meant was to make it so that if you type "www.google.com" in your note, it becomes a link that you can click.

The difference I see is that some links I want to keep are long (http://www.thriftycomputer.com/product/Logitech-Quickcam-Deluxe-for-Notebooks-Webcam.html), and therefore take up lots of space on my desktop. What I'd like is "Webcam" which links to that website.

Clickable links is an improvement, but the actual item I'm wishing for is the ability to have some arbitrary text become a link to a website that is not contained in the text.

If anybody is interested in coding this piece of functionality, I am all ears.

We have had some ideas about supporting links and HTML in xpad before.

I can do a review of the code and make sure it gets into the main branch.
