The screen stays off as long as i don't press anything, but it comes back on when i press the play pause button, but obviously the system detects the lid being opened much later.
If I run "xset dpms force off", the screen will turn off but come back on if i press anything.
I'm also having the problem. Dell inspiron 1520, nVidia 8400m graphics.
