step to reproduce:
1. $ rm -rf ~/.whiteboard
2. $ whyteboard

first alert: "Error setting language to - reverting to English"
second alert: "Cannot set locale to 'en_GB'"

the second alert does not appear after .whyteboard is created.
the first alert appears up to the locale language is choosed with preferences dialog window.
