Very interesting pathological condition. Removing all files in a user's home directory is of course going to cause odd and otherwise inexplicable problems, but should be handled gracefully. I'm marking this as a low priority curiosity to investigate, since it may be symptomatic of some other underlying pathology of a more sinister nature.
