im-switch and its successor, im-switch are the only way of managing input method blessed by the Debian pkg-ime team. This means ibus and other input methods maintained by the team will not be supported if any glitch happens in other way of manipulating the settings. Thus I'm against the changes in im-switch and language-selector about im settings, it does make our life harder when dealing with different programs doing similar things but with different implementations.
