I had the same issue on my Dell Precision 380 (interesting to note that the original poster had a Precision 390). It also prevented me from installing Ubuntu 12.10 as this error repeating seemed to block the installation. Disabling the sound in the BIOS allowed me to work-around the bug and install Ubuntu.
