Bug Description

After starting up my laptop the applet start first scanning and after that it gets into the working mode. But I did not upload or change any files so I don´t understand why the applet is after one hour still in the working mode. Another problem is that it is consuming all the battery power by doing that. It also is taking very much resources.

Problem seems to be fixed in an earlier client release but is back again in the latest release (27 July 2009 )

Thanks for the bug report. If you run:

u1sdtool --current-transfers

it will show you what the application is currently doing/transferring. We can then see whether it's just that you have a large number of files that it's still dealing with queued up to transfer, or if it's some other issue we need to look into.

Thanks!

Hi Philip ,

I can tell you it is a large number of files. But the transfer was completed
three days ago and I did check the disk amount and numbers of files.
I did upload around 780 MB of files some in small and some in big folders.

I did do the command : u1sdtool --current-transfers
It shows many files are queued up to transfer but not one has been changed
during those three days.
So mayby there is something wrong with the time attribute?

Is it possible you generate a checksum at the client and at UbuntuOne, so
when No-files are changed or add at the client and also at UbuntuOne there
is no reason for the application to start scanning and working again.
That way it will make the application so much faster.

I did try three times today and before the scanning and working was
completed the batteries of my laptop did go empty.
The batteries last for about 2 - 2 1/2 hours.
So when I did get online again the scanning was resumed again and my
baterries were empty before the scanning and working could be completed.
Tomorrow I will try again with Net-power and will check how long it will
takes.

To test I also did upload just one file ( about 200 kb ) and it is still not
updated in the cloud even I did not add or changed one other file in the
UbuntuOne folder for the last three days!

If you need more information let me know.

Greetings Roef
p.s. I do like the program so good luck to you all ;-)

I have a similar problem.
I installed ubunt one on 5 pc, everything worked just fine for a couple of weeks
Now I can see the applet working all the time, without actually syncing any file ( a file changed on pc1 is not replicated or changed on the others )

this is the output of "ulsdtool"

xxx@xxxx:~$ u1sdtool --current-transfers
Current uploads: 0
Current downloads: 0
xxx@xxxx:~$

Let me know if you need something more

ciao

Hi Philip ,

After the latest client update the prolem no longer exist.
Not sure if the problem also is solved for Cagliano.
Maybe he can update his client also and check again if his problem also is solved.
If that is the case the status can maybe changed to solved.

Thanks,

Roef

I just discovered I have a problem in upgrading the client.

I mean, on the "update manager gui" it is shown as an available upgrade but it is not selectable.
if I do "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade" ubuntu one is not upgraded... it seems it is already upgraded, but I am sure it is not ( the problem it is still there )

The same problem... And system monitor doesn't show any unloading... The version of the client is the latest.

Problem back again after latest client release. Upgrade at 27 July local time.

XXX@Laptop:~$ u1sdtool --current-transfers
Current uploads: 0
Current downloads: 0

But the client keeps holding the status ´working´!
Seems an old problem is back again because in the previous release this seems to be fixed.

I have what I think is the same problem. I copied a file into my shared folder and it's just on "Working" and never changes. I suspect it could be a firewall issue? What protocol does it uses to access the service?

th@hydra:~$ u1sdtool --current-transfers
Current uploads: 0
Current downloads: 0

Log file attached.

My apologies for the delay in following up on this problem. We've made quite a few changes to the client and sync-daemon since the last comment on this bug. If you are still experiencing similar problems, can you please run the following command to attach log files to this bug so we can further troubleshoot this issue?

apport-collect -p ubuntuone-client 399226

Thanks,

Hi Joshua,

I am still experiencing similar problems.
Small files under 25KB goes well but larger files are not uploaded at all.
Now there is also another problem. Files deleted in the Web Gui are not
deleted at the local PC, this did work before.
It also is more difficult to see what happens because the applet does not
always appears so it is not sure if it is working or not.
At last I did get monday two times an error when starting the applet. I
never had that before.
With the ' u1sdtool --current-transfers ' command I can not detect errors.

Greetings Roef
