did the following test with ec2

launch ec2 Focal instance via ec2 launch wizard
created an instance that was _very_ old (will be opening a ticket on that)

cat /etc/cloud/build.info
build_name: server
serial: 20211129

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -y

and received no issues.
