I'm so glad that someone could finally solve the mystery behind this issue!
You explained it in a very simple and clear way and provided not 1, but 2 workarounds and also proposed a solution! I'm going for Option 1, but I'm confident they'll remove the logitech-dj driver in the future, that would make sense.
