I've tried for an hour, but can't seem to get any fix working. Highly frustrating as I just switched my laptop from Debian to Ubuntu, and now I have to spend time switching it back again.
Comment #16 seems to misunderstand the bug. Likewise the workaround in comment #12 might possibly work for some people, but there appear to be several of us who rely on running X as a non-root user.
This is not something that I would have expected to be broken. Is there any update on this? It's been a while since anyone commented on it, and the bug doesn't appear to be assigned to anyone.
