Changing package from terminal to xfce4-terminal

Backspace doesn't work when in screen on localhost. However, Backspace _does_ work when I'm ssh'd into another server.

Backspace key generates and Delete key generates are both set to Auto-detect on Preferences > Advanced

Changed in terminal:

I found you can open up the xcfe4-terminal preferences go to advanced and change backspace from autodetect to ascii delete or control-h and the problem goes away. This is by no means a fix as autodetect should work but at least it is a workaround

This bug is still in Jaunty. It is shameful that any terminal emulator in this day and age still have BS/DEL issues.

Essentially, xfce-terminal's "Auto" settings do not work properly with GNU screen, among other applications. xterm generates ASCII DEL when Backspace is pressed and ANSI ESC[3~ when Delete is pressed. xfce-terminal does not do this so applications that use xterm get confused.

xfce-terminal's "auto" should mimic xterm's behaviour if that is what the TERM variable is going to default to.
