mhmh, can you try to do this:
Launch this command
$ sleep 5 && xinput test-xi2 --root
Then right-click in the terminal (to open a menu, or just open an unity menu) within 5 seconds... Then the xinput test-x2 should run, so at this point do you still see motion events as before?
