Thanks for you work on this Adam! I have not reviewed the patch yet, but I need to know if you have signed the contributor agreement?
I am a bit cautious of indexing stuff that doesn't have an XDG category, since all sorts of .desktop files we don't want to show also does not have categories and I am not confident that we can trust them to always set the NoDisplay=True field. OTOH - maybe we can. Will investigate thoroughly.
