Can someone with these symptoms assert that unity-applications-daemon is not running? - fx. by checking the following command outputs a number 'pgrep -f unity-applications-daemon'.
If it is not running you can start it in the terminal with '/usr/lib/unity-lens-applications/unity-applications-daemon'. If it is indeed already running then you can kill it and restart it manually - to kill it just issue 'pkill -f unity-applications-daemon'.
If someone would paste or attach the terminal output from unity-applications-lens then that would like be very useful. (especially if you can get it when it'snot working...)
