I see the same problem like depicted in comment #99.
To be frank, I do not need such workarounds (sorry, the userchrome.css doesn't contribute fix - but only workaround). What I want is a proper fix. Or shall I say regression to the level of functionality of Netscape 4.x. The old Messenger did the right thing. Evolution, FoxMail, Mail.app, other all do the right thing.
I want Thunderbird also to do the same right thing: header, attachments all inlined in the same view pane as message body. Nothing more. That automatically fixes the aforementioned problem, it allows to search in header, it allows to search in attachment list, it allows to display full sender info as it was properly done in Netscape, it provides a place to display signature/encryption info, it allows to provide user with option for any of that info being folded or unfolded - depending on what user expects. From POV of extensions it allows to add any info user might want to the message view. In non-obtrusive way. And so on.
I still cannot understand people who changed the way message is displayed in SeaMonkey... Tb got that problem from the later SeaMokeys.
