Comment 20 for bug 1448164

Problem still exist in fresh installation of 16.04.1 on November of 2016.
But below procedure worked for me

sudo apt-get purge runit
sudo apt-get purge git-all
sudo apt-get purge git
sudo apt-get autoremove
sudo apt update
sudo apt install git
