Observed on Ubuntu 22.04, it seems syslog and few others weren't updated since I upgraded from 20.04. I did reboot several times since then, but when I discovered this today rsyslog was inactive/dead. I manually started rsyslog, and now log files are updated, but I don't know if it will work after reboot (can't reboot right now). The permissions were/are correct (syslog:adm).
