Big problem for me also. Xubuntu 14.04, 64bit, fresh install giving no sound. "pulseaudio server connection failure connection refused" hence no Skype.

My previous installation of the same system on the same hardware gave no problems at all. If no one has a fix I'll try another install, failing that, another OS.
