Did the debian update with adding to apt-get sources list, did sudo apt-get update and then upgrade, upgraded a bunch of packages.

I show:

zlib
ZLib Support enabled
Stream Wrapper support compress.zlib://
Stream Filter support zlib.inflate, zlib.deflate
Compiled Version 1.2.3.3

Seemed to have gone ok, though Wordpress is still throwing the error...
