I am having the same problem since I updated to 2.6.20.-14.23. Two of my hard drives (sdc 1 and sdd1) have completely disappeared.
I have tried replacing the UUIDs in /etc/fstab with traditional names for the devices i.e. sdc sdd (apparently in feisty all hard disks are called sda, sdb etc. regardless if they are SATA, PATA or SCSI) but when I did this, I got a "no such device" error on boot.
