sorry forgot to metion one has to logout or restart after issueing the command:
"gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface ubuntu-overlay-scrollbars false" in a Terminal.
After restart old well know and well working scrollbars reappear.
Tryton, Nautilus and a lot of other applications work well again.
