This bug also affects me:

Starting AFS services:
AFS module /lib/modules/3.19.0-49-generic/fs/openafs.ko does not exist.
Not starting AFS. Please consider building kernel modules using
instructions in /usr/share/doc/openafs-client/README.modules

As can be seen above, I'm running kernel 3.19 (I think I installed a HWE version, it was whatever was suggested at the download page.)

It might be the same as bug #1433411, but 1433411 has languished for quite some time (it currently has status Undecided and Unassigned.)
