This might be a duplicate of bug #907383 It started happening after upgrading to ubuntu 12.04. Several times a day, the gnome session crashes and drops me to GDM. This happens with Unity and gnome shell. It doesn't happen with unity-2d.
Since Christopher M. Penalver (penalvch) asked to do "ubuntu-bug xorg" in the original report, I did it since I have probably the same problem. I hope It's OK.
