I also have my acceleration set to minimal:

 xinput set-prop 'Microsoft Microsoft® Comfort Mouse 4500' 'Device Accel Velocity Scaling' 1

so the bug kind of feels like the setting is being ignored only after clicking on the Unity launcher.
