Well I edited fstab and tried to do a mount again but it got the same error. I'm going to shut my PC down for the night and I'll try it again tomorrow if I have time. Maybe it will work after a restart.

I also brought my 8.10 laptop home from work, I'll try connecting to the NFS from it and see what happens.
