If there were any "crashes" then indeed using a Xorg session you would not notice them, because gnome-shell on Xorg can restart seamlessly and your apps are unaffected. That doesn't mean Wayland is crashing more often than Xorg, only that a Xorg session recovers better from gnome-shell crashes.
But this bug is not about crashes. It's about app windows not responding to clicks while the shell does. So if you do experience that problem then we would like to know how to reproduce it.
