Distribution: Dapper Xubuntu, flight-5.

When trying to compose a message (pushing 'Write' or 'Reply' buttons, choosing 'Reply' from message right-click context menu) , the following error dialog appears

"An error occurred while creating a message compose window. Please try again."

After clicking OK, no compose message window appears, I'm taken back to the main window.

thunderbird reports no errors to stderr.

Repeatable: always after at least one initial account has been created.
Expected behaviour: a compose message window should appear.
