Comment 48 for bug 571707

For others who are trying, I've been dropping to runlevel 1 then doing:
service rsylog stop
screen
mount -o ro,remont /; mountall -v --force-fsck --no-events

You can then use screen to get extra terminals and strace or gdb mountall.
