Same problem for me using kernel 2.6.35.25.
I found that installing kernel 2.6.35.11 from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ solved the problem.
Strange because I thought the 2 kernels corresponded to one another, but either way it worked.
