I didn't fully read through the source since I don't know exactly what is being sent to the wmi driver. What's printed out is just two bytes of a multibyte sequence. I am guessing that the new patch probably isn't helping much. That said, any changes we make on top of the driver may need to be based upon the commit I rolled into the test kernel, since it may have some necessary bits, and upstream would want that as well.
