killed the wizard
dropped into a shell
issued dpkg --configure -a
opened another shell
issued sudo killall locale-gen ------------every time it locked up on
some language thing
it finally finished
then reboot
pick a different kernel when grub starts.
dont' pick a recovery one, just roll back a version or two, but whatever
you do, don't pick the one that's at fault (which is 15 i think)

Here's what I did --
killed the wizard
dropped into a shell
issued dpkg --configure -a
opened another shell
issued sudo killall locale-gen ------------every time it locked up on
some language thing
it finally finished
then reboot
pick a different kernel when grub starts.
dont' pick a recovery one, just roll back a version or two, but whatever
you do, don't pick the one that's at fault (which is 15 i think)
next --
DO NOT LOG INTO THE GUI
hit control alt F2
log in to the console
type
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
when it finishes, sudo reboot now
let autopilot take over....
should be good to go.
