Let's call it a workaround, it's surely not a fix. ;^) Also, it didn't work for me, though I'd done quite a bit of other experimentation so my system wasn't exactly fresh. In fact, after needing to use the magic SysRq key to reboot a couple of times (I had an unkillable localedef that prevented system shutdown) my filesystem is totally corrupted and all data lost. Luckily the really important stuff was on other partitions/drives.

I'm not so impressed with this release, guys.
