In Windows, it's no problem whether the laptop was previously powered on or power resetted etc. It always works. I've done a little analysis to understand that even in Windows, there is no special flashy driver from Elantech as such. It's using the usual i8042 & psmouse driver (with Elantech trackpad support) over irq 12. Just as exactly as Linux.
