No this is no regression. It's a brand new laptop only a few days old. I've discovered this problem from the first time I booted Linux, from power on. And as quickly as having discovered the problem, I've discovered the work-around too of temporarily booting Windows every time after power on and before I want to use Linux, which is both my favourite and preferred OS of course.
