I hope this is the correct place to report this. I tried the patch on my laptop and it *does not work*. Details:
Model: Acer Aspire E5-571P laptop with Elantech touchpad
Distro: Linux Mint 17.1 + Kernel 3.18.5 (with i8042.kbdreset option)
My touchpad is completely unresponsive. I have scoured the Internet looking for solutions, and tried everything but the kitchen sink (e.g. playing with module parameters). This is the only site I've found that is proposing any kind of patch/fix for Elantech touchpads - from examining my dmesg with i8042.debug one (and not really knowing what I'm looking at), it does seem like there is a communication problem. Note: unlike the other post-ers, my touchpad does not work after coldboot after booting into Windows, so the problem may be different than what the Gigabyte laptop users experience. Anyway, I'm attaching my dmesg file in case it is of any use. Perhaps this should be started as a new bug project.
