I'd like to request other users who are affected by the same bug to report whether this patch works for them using i8042.kbdreset=1 kernel parameter (or if it's complied as a module, then its equivalent).

If it does work, you may then report your dmi info (e.g., dmidecode | egrep 'Manufacturer|Product Name' | head -n2) and/or amend the drivers/input/serio/i8042-x86ia64io.h's i8042_dmi_elantech_kbdreset_table[] struct, for automatic application of the fix.
