I installed a 32 bits 14.04 and I don't see any difference. That said, in my case I don't see connection drops, I only see really poor performance, compared with other gear I have in the house.
Using wavemon the signal strength and the link quality are similar on the same spot with different hardware, but the bitrate is an awfull lot lower (1 Mbit/s compared to 36 Mbit/s at a reasonable distance from the router) and with max power (100mW - power management apparently off be default), while my faster gear is happy with 39,81 mW.
