Yes, I tried it with 2.6.20-5. There seems to be some progress as the wpa- options in /etc/network/interfaces works now (as they did in the dapper live-cd but not in edgy) but network-manager still isn't working.

That might make that a new bug. I'll let you decide that and I'll be happy to help debug the issue in either case.
